Michigan, Sherrone Moore land 4-star safety Kainoa Winston

Michigan has landed a commitment from four-star safety Kainoa Winston, the Wolverines' second commitment in the 2024 class. Winston, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety, is ranked No. 268 overall and No. 20 at the position in the 247Sports Composite rankings. He announced his commitment on social media, choosing the Wolverines over offers from USC, Oregon, Washington and others. Winston's commitment comes a day after Michigan landed four-star athlete Cole Sullivan, who is projected to play wide receiver in Ann Arbor. Winston is the third defensive back to commit to Michigan in the 2024 class, joining four-star safety Jacob Oden and three-star safety Jaden Smith. The Wolverines are looking to reload on defense in the 2024 class after losing several key starters to graduation, including defensive backs D.J. Turner, Michael Barrett and Rod Moore. Winston is a versatile safety who can play both in the box and deep. He is a physical tackler who is also a good cover guy. Winston's commitment is a big boost for the Wolverines, as he is a high-potential player who could develop into a key player in the secondary. He is a good fit for Michigan's defensive scheme and should contribute right away.

Summary

"Michigan's 2024 recruiting class is starting to take shape with the commitment of four-star safety Kainoa Winston. Winston is a versatile and talented player who could be a key piece of Michigan's defense in the future."
